This original Schwitzer 3LD-229 turbocharger, historically fitted to a 6.6 ltr diesel engine, dates back to 1969 and was recently restored at AET for a customer who owns one of the era’s most capable agricultural machines – the Ford 9700.
Introduced in 1979 as part of Ford’s 9000 Series, the 9700 was built to meet the growing demand for powerful, heavy-duty tractors. Its turbocharged six-cylinder engine produced around 150 horsepower, providing the strength and reliability needed for large-scale agricultural work. With advanced hydraulics, four-wheel drive, and a focus on operator comfort, it quickly became a standout model in Ford’s agricultural lineup.
Restoring the original turbocharger preserves both the authenticity and performance of this classic tractor, ensuring it continues to operate as effectively today as it did almost five years ago.
