Junior Turbocharger Technician

Reporting directly to our Production Manager, your role is to disassemble and clean turbochargers as a Junior Turbo Technician.  You will work within a small friendly team and will receive training on a variety of different machines and processes. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassembly of customer/stock and scrap turbochargers
  • Thorough cleaning of all parts; loading parts cleaners, using hand blasting equipment and loading of automated blast cleaners
  • Rectification of used parts; preparation of required surface finish of components, broken stud/bolt removal, repair of threads (helicoiling/inserts), checking straightness of turbine shafts, porting and polishing of components
  • Use of hand tools; Electric and air drills/angle and die grinders, spanners, socket sets, hand files, hack saws, hammers, flex honing, Pillar drills, linishers
  • Operating a centre lathe and honing machine for simple operations
  • Ensuring that in-process inspections and checks are carried out correctly – checking that work meets quality and technical standards
  • Use of measurement equipment; micrometers, verniers, Dial gauges
  • Maintaining product knowledge
  • Ensuring that all documentation is correctly completed in accordance with quality procedures
  • Organisation and planning of jobs
  • Housekeeping of all workshop areas
  • Routine machine maintenance

Required skills & Personal qualities:

  • Competent with hand/power tools and using IT systems
  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • High level of manual dexterity
  • Physically fit (medium to heavy lifting of turbos and equipment is intrinsic to the role)
  • Positive welcoming attitude and good communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines with a high level of accuracy and a keen eye for detail
  • Analytical ability & willingness to learn
  • Good team player, enthusiastic, friendly and trustworthy
  • Good timekeeping & housekeeping

CNC Machinist

We aim to deliver OEM-quality products and bespoke performance solutions across the automotive, motorsport, commercial, marine, agricultural, industrial, and power generation sectors.

Now, as we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Skilled CNC Machinist to play a key role in our future development.

Skilled CNC Machinist (full time) – Reporting directly to the Engineering Director you are responsible for the machining of custom parts for our bespoke turbo ranges of turbos and batch work components for standard turbocharger units, testing turbochargers and turbocharger components and cataloguing data


Key Functions and Duties: 

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Day to day running of our CNC milling and lathe machines 
  • Programming the CNC machine with data taken from technical drawings 
  • Programming the CNC machine using data obtained using your own reverse engineering methods 
  • CNC machining of high precision “one off “and “batch” components. 
  • Design and machining of fixturing for holding and machining of parts. 
  • Repair of turbo and wastegate components 
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines 
  • Perform quality checks 
  • Monitor machine performance 
  • Building and testing turbochargers 
  • Cataloguing turbo test results 
  • Any other duties as required 

Assisting with:

  • The filing of technical drawings, 3D CAD models & CNC programs within the business software system 
  • Working out the most efficient order to carry out machining tasks 
  • Choosing the right tools for each operation 
  • Checking the work meets quality and technical standards 
  • Maintaining equipment 
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working area  

Skills & Qualifications: 

You’ll need:  

  • Recognised qualification/apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Experience with CNC machining would be advantageous 
  • The ability to follow engineering drawings and instructions accurately 
  • The ability to read and understand G Code 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team 
  • To be a proactive team player, with initiative and a positive ‘can do’ attitude and problem solving/solution-oriented mindset 
  • Ability to take instruction 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality 
  • Excellent practical and communication skills  
  • Good “applied” maths and IT skills 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
