Meet the Manufacturers – Introducing the leading names in Turbocharging

Last month on the blog, we looked at where big automotive brands get their turbochargers, and learnt that the vast majority of the big car companies actually buy in their turbos from other companies.

In this month’s post, we’re going to look at some of these specialist turbocharging companies in a little more detail, exploring the kind of turbos they make, and why they are trusted by the major automotive brands.

Garrett

With over 70 years experience manufacturing turbochargers for the world’s biggest vehicle manufacturers, including Ford, Citroen, Peugeot, Volvo, Mini and Mazda, Garrett are a global leader in turbocharging technology.

Today, Garrett turbos are found in some of the world’s most popular passenger vehicles, and there are literally millions of cars that utilise Garrett turbochargers on the road today.

In addition Garrett also has a strong track record in producing performance turbochargers for motorsport, and their products are trusted by a number of the world’s top race teams.

BorgWarner

Holset

Manufactured by British-based Cummins Turbo Technologies, in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Holset are a range of high-quality diesel turbochargers for commercial vehicles, industrial and marine applications.

Cummins are the world’s largest manufacturer of medium to heavy-duty diesel turbos, and its products can be found on a number of popular heavy goods vehicles, buses and light commercial vehicles around the world.

IHI

A major Japanese corporation working in a diverse range of industries, IHI are one of the world’s leading automotive turbo manufacturers, having produced over 40 million turbochargers to date!

IHI turbochargers are found in a wide range of popular passenger and commercial vehicles built by major vehicle manufacturers worldwide, including Subaru, Chrysler, Ford, Citroen, Hitachi and Mercedes.

MHI

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) don’t just produce quality turbochargers for their own range of vehicles – they also supply turbos to other automotive businesses in Japan, America and Europe.
