In 2025, AET undertook the remanufacture of a Garrett GT40 Billet based hybrid turbocharger for a specialist customer’s Mercedes-Benz C11, one of the most successful Group C prototype race cars ever built.
Developed by Sauber-Mercedes, the C11 dominated the 1990 World Sportscar Championship with its 5.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, producing upwards of 730 BHP and achieving speeds approaching 250 MPH. To this day, the car remains a benchmark in motorsport engineering and aerodynamic design. Notably, the C11 marked the first time Mercedes-Benz placed its name on a racing car, rather than relying solely on the Sauber designation.

Remanufacturing the 3K/GT40R demanded a precise balance between modern turbo technology with an understanding of period-correct engineering. As ever, each stage of the restoration was completed to OEM standards, ensuring performance, durability, and authenticity.
With over 50 years of experience and an ISO 9001:2015 accreditation, AET continues to support customers across motorsport, automotive, marine, industrial, and power generation sectors, delivering turbocharger solutions that exemplify the highest standard of quality.
